Samurai, along with Fighter is one of the Master Brawler classes that costs 800 points in CRITICAL STRIKE.

Appearance[]

Samurai appears to have medium armor, including a chestplate, leggings, and wristbands. It has a pauldron on its left shoulder.

It wields a katana as well as a sheath for it.

Specialties[]

Samurai has an extremely high combo potential. It can easily chain multiple moves after each other, and it even has a whole ability dedicated to reducing cooldowns and using moves at an even faster pace. This enables it to have high mobility due to it being able to chain dash moves, making it good at chasing down targets.

However, it sacrifices damage for attack speed, reducing its damage to get in more hits. To make matters worse, Samurai's poor base damage and reliance on sheathed mode to do any form of meaningful damage in combat would give most Samurai players a hard time without proper planning.

Summary: High burst damage, combo potential, and mobility, but somewhat hard to learn combos.

After 0.5 seconds, enter a state in which you cannot move. Katana Slash is converted to Focus Slash. Your ATK, AB1 and AB2 will have a 0.1s cooldown, each having their own cooldowns, and convert into Sheathed form. Using an ability twice will permanently keep it on cooldown until Total Concentration ends.

You can use three moves during Total Concentration and each move will be put on a 0.5s cool-down automatically when CRT is cast.

Tips and Tricks[]

  • Your CRT is the core to your heavy damage. Make sure you have this attack on standby before combo-ing.
  • Using CRT and then using AB1x3 will allow you to gain quite some ground in a short amount of time. This is useful for chasing or running.
  • CRT + ATKx3 is a useful tool for scaring off rushdown-type classes.
  • Having sluggish ability cooldowns allows you to focus on your ATK, which is the best source of DPS for most classes in game.
  • With your wide hitbox and high damage sheathed ATK, a precise timing with your click and jump can mentally scar classes with high mobility by taking ~20% of their full HP.
  • With "quick" playstyle, you can punish your opponents with quick and high damage abilities for their slow reaction speed.
  • ATK's hitbox from CRT is taller than it looks.
  • Samurai actually benefits from the map Hachiman Jinja. You have more options at dealing damage at vertical angle than others. In Final Strike, you can spam AB1 during CRT without worrying about falling out of the platform.

Combos [OUTDATED][]

ATK with brackets are sheathed ATK

  • CRT > ATK/AB2 > ATK/AB2 > ATK/AB2 - The three damaging moves in this combo can rack up significant amounts of damage in a small radius around you. ATK deals more damage than AB2, but AB2 has more range than ATK.
  • ATK > AB2 > AB1 > ATK > CRT > AB1 > ATK/AB2 > ATK/AB2 - This combo does almost 60 damage if used properly but can be hard to hit. ATK and AB2 swap order, allowing for more consistent hits, at the cost of a minor damage decrease.
  • CRT + AB1 + AB1/ATK + ATK - A simple dash combo, dealing quick damage.
  • AB1 + AB2 + ATK - A quick chip damage combo, dealing 10-30 damage.
  • [ATK] + AB2 + AB1 - Another chip damage combo, can allow you to attack and quickly evade to avoid retaliation (You can even dash through them with the AB1 for more damage)
  • [ATK] + AB2 + CRT > ATK > ATK > ATK/AB1 + AB1 (if you used ATK last) -
    • Considered the highest damage combo, a better alternative to the second combo in this list as it deals a similar amount of damage in less time, up to 59 damage if all hits land all within about 1.5 seconds, which is considered High damage to almost all classes.
    • It is however, difficult to decide when to use this as it requires a high level of commitment and can be met with punishment if you get stunned, thus it is recommended to be used when your opponent has their high damage/combo moves on cooldown

Skins[]

  • DEMONEXTERMINATION: 25 Godlike Tokens
    • Based on Tanjiro Kamado (See more in trivia).
    • Has a much more elegant ATK which appears with white lines around it.
    • AB1 has a similar effect. AB2 will appear as a pillar (or geyser).
    • CRT stays the same (Sheathed ATK - Has a Hinokami Kagura effect to it. Sheathed AB1, AB2 - The same).

  • In April Fools 2023, Smaurai used to play Jetstream Sam's theme from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and CRT lasted for seven attacks.
  • There's a glitch that Samurai may be able to move while in CRT move, but it will still not be able to attack normally without expending its 3 enhanced moves.
  • The render of Samurai is heavily based off of the pose Jetstream Sam from the Metal Gear Rising series makes.
  • Samurai is heavily based on the Breathing Styles and their techniques from the Japanese series Kimetsu no Yaiba.
    • AB1 is modeled after the special technique First Form: Thunderclap and Flash (壱ノ型霹靂一閃 Ichi no kata: Hekireki Issen).
    • AB2 is most likely modeled after the special technique Second Form: Claws-Purifying Wind (弐ノ型爪々・科戸風・Ni no kata: Sōsō・Shinato Kaze).
    • CRT is modeled after "Total Concentration Breathing" a necessary step to use any of the Breathing Styles' techniques.
    • Surprisingly, DemonExtermination Skin is also based on the character Tanjiro Kamado from the anime. In addition to it, the classes' animation got changed a lot based on Tanjiro's own movement as a samurai.
  • Samurai and Fighter share a few similarities:
    • Both classes are influenced by Eastern culture.
    • Both classes rely on combos and quick attacks to whittle down the targets' health.
  • Previously, the two skins Popstar (Beast) and Demonextermination cost 100 godlike tokens, but were reduced to 25, both skins share similarities of changing the animation for the class.
  • In early CS3, Samurai has the first ranged ability that slows players.
  • The kanji on Total Concentration's icon (省) means; focus, government ministry, conserve.

  • v5.8.0:
    • Blank Image Sheathed ATK's damage is decreased from 15 to 12.
    • Blank Image ATK during CRT's damage is decreased from 8 to 6.
    • Blank Image AB2's damage is decreased from 10 to 8.
    • Regen AB2 during CRT's damage is increased from 5x3 to 8x3.
  • v5.8.5:
    • Blank Image Abilities during CRT has their cooldown a little longer.
    • Regen CRT is now instantly ready instead of having wind-up.

    • NeutralChange Sheathed ATK's drag frame is reduced and increased damage from 12 to 15.
