Mage, along with Wizard, is one of the two free basic Burst-Type classes in CRITICAL STRIKE.

Appearance[]

Mage wears almost no armor except for the typical back accessory that most classes have. In one of the Mage's hands is a wand of the player's secondary color. Floating around the Mage's other hand is a large open book. The pages of the book are of the player's weapon color, the only instance of their weapon color in the Mage's model.

Overview[]

Mage excels at and dealing massive damage, even among it's counterparts. It boasts powerful attacks, and even has an effect dedicated to dealing DoT, and doubling all damage dealt, enabling Mage to perform high damage combos that shred enemy HP. This is even more apparent when considering that Mage can use all of it's attacks during another to send a barrage of attacks at the enemy. Another upside to Mage is it's fairly low cooldowns in-class, and a spammable Knockback attack, granting Mage more versatility and options in battle.

Although Mage has many strengths, it comes with many weaknesses. Like most of it's counterparts, they lack any form of mobility/dash moves, only relying on their average movement speed as their sole form of movement, making it difficult for Mage to chase down their targets, or escape from stickier situations. Not only that, but most of Mage's attacks have poor projectile speed and/or are somewhat telegraphed, granting skilled players a chance to notice and dodge the attack. Combining Mage's low mobility with slow/telegraphed attacks makes it somewhat predictable to fight and punish.

Summary: A freaking burst damage god, but has no mobility.

Strengths[]

  • Almost unmatched damage potential
  • Unique de-buff Despair
  • Slightly quicker cool downs in-class
  • Decent combo potential
  • Access to knockback

Weakness[]

  • Lacks mobility
  • Predictable attacks (Slow and/or telegraphed)
  • Overall predictable

Despair (Target) N/A 4s
CRT Arcane Destruction
MageF

Tips[]

  • AB2 is what makes your damage output so high, only use it when you’re likely to hit.
  • As you get more comfortable with the speed and timing of the abilities, you ought to start using AB2 and CRT at practically the same time, pressing AB2 first, in order to guarantee that if the AB2 lands, the CRT does too.
  • Although AB1 functions mainly as a defensive ability, it’s offensive potential is significant due to the nature of your kit, and the nature of the arenas, especially “Final Strike”. Bait targets to gap close and orient yourself to push them off the platforms.
    • With practice, you can use AB2 then CRT when they land, allowing you to deal more damage.
    • Tossing your enemy into the void can be done quite often due to the very short cooldown of AB1.
  • Mage can use it's skills simultaneously, use this to your advantage.

Combos[]

  • AB2 > CRT > ATK...
    • Mage's most simple and damaging combo. Inflict Despair to your foe, hit them with a 60 damage burst, then continue to fire ATKs at them.
    • Variation 1: Toss your foe into the void with AB1, then continue the combo. Deals more damage due to void damage being used, but is much harder to pull off.
      • This is why Mage masters can obliterate you if you make even a tiny mistake.
