"You've prepared for this moment, at last you enter the arena. Lay down your traps and patiently wait for someone to come, then make a pincushion of arrows!"

Hunter, along with Mercenary, Blaster, and Ranger, is one of the four Advanced Marksman-type classes that cost 200 points in CRITICAL STRIKE.

Appearance[]

Hunter appears to have light armor, consisting of boots and a backpack. It wields a crossbow larger than the Scout's crossbows.

Overview[]

Hunter may not have very high raw damage compared to other classes, but that is overshadowed by the countless tricks Hunters has up his sleeves, such as powerful burst damage combo moves and area-denial capabilities, allowing you to take down foes who underestimate you. Hunter can hinder its targets' movements with ease, setting them up for high damage combos while they are unable to dodge in any way. Additionally, it boasts of high range, being able to pin targets from far away with bolts. Hunter can both face their foes with a variety of tricks, or get into hot pursuit whenever their prey tries to flee.

However, Hunter is extremely vulnerable when caught out of a set up, while lacking speed to flee from combat, if it ever comes to it. Without the effective usage of their kit, Hunter will be unable to utilize it's powerful burst damage, and it's chip damage simply wouldn't cut it for Hunter in combat, projecting heavy emphasis on exploiting the tools Hunter has, unless they are looking to be easy prey.

Summary: Powerful area-denial and range, okay damage, but somewhat low mobility and fire rate.

  • High range
  • Strong versus stealth
  • Powerful area-denial

  • Relies on gimmicks

Notes[]

  • The bear traps that are placed down through its AB2 take a short while to "arm" themselves before you can actually catch players.
  • Despite the fact that CRT technically increases Hunter's attack power, it has nothing to do with applying Attack Increase to itself or inflicting Defense Decrease to others.
  • CRT can hit multiple people, making it useful in some situations.

Tips and Tricks[]

  • You can wait for AB2's cooldown to stop before having to recast the move, allowing you to do things such at place 2 traps at once, or fire a net and place a trap instantly.
  • AB1's cooldown will reset when it hits a marked foe, drastically boosting Hunter's damage output and mobility when landing consecutive hits. It also greatly boosts its burst damage when utilized.
  • Stacking a few traps under a heal cube can deny enemies from stealing the heal cube, allowing you to heal more safely and reliably.
    • This also works if an enemy is running to a heal cube that you have already trapped, denying them healing. If they don't notice the trap, it allows you to deal a massive amount of burst damage.
  • AB1 with AB2 has a much larger hitbox than AB1 alone, allowing you to slow enemies very easily, making it easier to shoot and aim at them. Using AB1's cooldown reset in combination with this allows for high damage combos.
    • But be aware AB1 alone is faster than with AB2, so predict your opponent's movement.
    • On different purposes, you can use AB1 with AB2 to take time to retreat and heal.
  • Although situational, CRT is effective at revealing invisible enemies, making them easier to aim at.

Combos[]

AB2x2 > CRT > ATK > AB1 > ATK > AB1

  • Trapping the target with AB2 and increasing the damage of Hunter's attacks with CRT both leave the target open for damage from ATK and AB1.
  • This is especially damaging due to the use of AB1's cooldown reset.
  • On second variation, you can omit the first ATK and one AB2, so that AB1 will be with AB2, leave the target open for damage from ATK and another AB1 due to cooldown reset if hit.
    • However, this combo slows targets instead of trapping them fully, meaning that the target can still escape from this. Despite that, it is easier to hit and you do not have to rely on the person the hit the trap.

AB2x3

  • Quickly stack 2 traps on heal cubes around the map, denying healing to others, and catching anyone who runs to one of your trapped heal cubes.
  • This is not a viable combo in actual combat, it is used while out of combat.
  • Trapping someone can lead to usage of other combos to deal massive damage.

CRT > AB1 > ATK

  • Mark the target with CRT, then follow up with a simple, damaging burst attack. Resets cooldown of AB1.
  • Considered the most common combo of Hunter.

Skins[]

  • Primal: 100 Event Tokens.
    • Has more prehistoric features, such as a creature (dinosaur?) on Hunter's back and a simple crossbow.
    • In AB1 with AB2, the net is changed to the bear trap itself.
  • Valentine : 100 Charming Tokens
    • Has more valentine-elf liked. A barb of a feather is placed besides it head, with two wings besides its crossbow.
    • In CRT, there's hearts dropping from all the corridor way.

Trivia[]

  • In April Fools 2023, Hunter was insanely buffed.
    • AB1 spawned 1-2-3-4 Gambler's AB2 dices.
      • Conspicuously, AB1 wasn't affect by CRT, unlike the original.
    • AB2's trap exploded once touched and instantly generates another trap.
  • The anti-stealth ability is a reference to the paladins hero, from Steam: Cassie, and Scout Ultimate.
  • Hunter's AB1 used to be former Archer's AB1 in CS4 Demo.
  • Hunter is the only class that can inflict Trapped, although Trapped is the carbon-copy of Bind.
    • This goes to be the first class to inflict one specific status effect that functions similar to it's counterpart, second being Trickster and then Frost.
  • AB1 used to deal 20 damage in the fully-updated version in late CS4.
  • AB2 used to deal 10 damage. The reason why it no longer deals is because people will basically spam AB2 at the center, preventing other players from getting health cubes or attacking them.
    • Despite the nerf, it is still deadly to be baited.
  • In CS1, Hunter was introduced 6 months apart before Archer.
  • In CS1, Hunter was supposed to be starter class.
