Duelist is one of eleven Unique-tier that costs 5 Godlike Tokens in CRITICAL STRIKE.

Appearance[]

Duelist class comes with light armor that covers most of the body as well as a scabbard. It wields a rapier as its weapon.

It also has some sort of cape behind the right half.

Overview[]

Summary: Quarter-zoner, half-rushdown, quarter-tank. A jack of trades, if you will.

Duelist is a high reach class that can do massive DPS with stun as well. Duelist may not be used by many, but has excellent damaging capabilities, being able to Stun and fully negate damage for a short period of time. It also has a unique capability of healing instead of taking damage by using an ability, letting Duelists sustain combat for a while. Along with percent damage and a relatively formidable moveset, Duelist is essentially a rushdown Brawler with pseudo-Tank elements, as well as an effective zoner. It also has insane combo potential, and is viable in most situations.

However, there are some very obvious flaws of Duelist. First of all, its mobility move can be punished and if you miss the recast timing, you basically waste the move. Also, this class has virtually no ranged attack whatsoever, having as much range as classes such as Warrior, Berserker, and Charger. This class also somewhat fails at being a rushdown as well as a zoner, and it doesn't help that some of its moves reduce its mobility for short periods of time.

  • Good combos, better than some people would expect
  • Has a counter that doubles as a unique heal.
  • High skill ceiling, allowing for major damage to be dealt if played correctly.

  • Bad Crowd Control capabilities
  • High skill floor, outright hostile to beginner players.
  • Mediocre defensive capabilities. (Depends.)
  • Requires precise timing and movement prediction

If recasted early, only deals 5% of the enemies Max HP as damage.

Tips[]

  • Your AB1 can deal 16 damage, hit them twice! You will probably dash out of their attacks anyway.
  • Judgment can always instantly be cast, so if you're in a predicament, use judgment and instantly after go into your guard.
  • If you're at low health, don't worry too much. You have Sustain Guard to give back small heals (don't rely on it!) and Judgement to deal solid chunk damage.
  • Duelist in general doesn't have a lot of range, keep that in mind when fighting ranged and Burst classes.
  • When fighting against classes slower than you, use judgment to keep stunning. Slower classes also probably have higher health, which plays out nicely.
  • Try to pick out people by themselves, Duelist is very good in 1v1s and you have a high chance of finishing your target quickly.
  • Your AB2 is best in two situations: when the opponent is charging up an extremely predictable move, and when the opponent is using a multi-projectile attack. It only lasts 3s though, so use your AB2 while planning to immediately dash away.

Trivia[]

  • Previously, in CS5, Duelist was permanently purchased with a gamepass that costed 50 Robux.
  • Used to have an ability that was called "Reflect Shield" that reflects projectiles, this was removed and replaced with Sustain Guard not long after the rework of Knight, which at the time also had projectile reflection.
    • The reflect shield was red.
    • Also used to have 90 HP in CS4.
  • Appears to be similar to League of Legends "Fiora" and could easily have been inspired by it.
  • Duelist's origin is probably from Critical Edge, the abandoned game EpicCritical created. It was once announced in Facebook, and the armor and weapon handles are all white, except blades are red. (Image lost due to EpicCritical's Facebook account deletion)
  • It wasn't Attack on Titan reference, never was.
  • Duelist is one of the few classes to ever appear in a Critical Strike fanfiction, that being Raison D'être by HiroariHourai.

  • v5.9.5b:
    • Regen CRT Reworked: Charge for up to 1s, then thrust forwards, dealing 10% of the opponents MaxHP as damage. Recasting within the last 0.1s will deal 20% of the opponents MaxHP as damage, resetting CRT’s cooldown and stunning the target. Cooldown can be reset this way up to 3 times, and on the last use it will deal knockback. Casting too early will only do 5% MaxHP as damage.

v5.9.7:

    • Blank Image Base: Max HP reduced. (100 -> 90)
    • Blank Image ATK: Reduced damage. (12 -> 10)
      • Duelist will no longer be able to completely stat check most classes in the game.
